A
Tribute To My Hero, My Friend, My Dad
November 21, 1927 – March 16, 2004
There was little time to say
goodbye
Little time to say
The things I felt within my
heart
Not dreaming of the day
That I would be without you
That you would soon be gone
There was no clue, no little
sign
That there was something
wrong
I was the only child you had
But you were Dad by heart
To all my childhood friends
and those
Whose lives you were a part
If I could climb to heaven
I’d build the stairs with
stars
And you and I and Mom would
have
That special kiss of ours
You were a friend to all you
knew
And we all miss you so
I hear your voice upon the
gentle
Summer breeze that blows
I know you’re there behind
the clouds
Sitting on a star
I know that God took you to
Him
For everything you are
My heart is still in pieces
My life forever changed
I never knew that anything
Could cause such crushing
pain
If time is the great healer
I don’t have time to heal
For it would take forever
I still don’t believe it’s
real
I thank the Lord both day
and night
We had the time we had
You were my hero and my
friend
But most of all, my Dad
I will love you always and
forever
“’ll be looking at the
stars, but I’ll be seeing you.”
