haiku      poetry

Haiku is an ancient form of Japanese poetry beloved for its brevity and simplicity.  It usually contains three lines of five, seven and five syllables and has a seasonal reference. Haiku is designed to cause the reader to reflect of a much deeper meaning and to create a complete picture in the minds eye.

The following haiku are copywrited

hummingbirds circle

golden pools of sweet nectar

harvesting summer

                                  when the heart is brave

                          when spirit is unbroken

                          achievement is sure

rising clouds of white

peaceful waters reflecting

nature's soft palette

a lamb to slaughter

summer succumbs to winter

but in spring renews

  nature among thorns

        beauty upon the bramble

so is the sweet rose

splendid radiance

the true colors of winter

shine through barren trees

nature's true beauty

that which is unchanged by man

is often unseen

magical the night

anticipating the dawn

in satin slumber

sweet summer willow

with humble cascading branch

for whom do you weep

 the master painted

        with glory and majesty

on earthly canvas

summer's gentle sigh

gives birth to autumn's breeze

winter wind awaits

ancient abandon

summer makes her departure

on bittersweet wings

twinkling velvet nights

the firefly slumbers at dawn

weary magicians

orderly chaos
wild flowers of spring meadows
know where they should be

                  innocent wisdom

the delicate pink crocus

trusts the frozen ground

summer's cross to bear

her destiny cast in stone

winter will come soon

the banshee of spring
rips at the delicate kite
her wrath has begun

discontent with gray

the rainbow paints with broad strokes

translucent colors
